The Bowling Green Brandywine Philosophy

We believe that addiction is a deadly disease that cannot be cured, but that can be effectively arrested through treatment, so long as treatment is comprehensive, multi disciplinary, and matching the needs and beliefs of the client.

Bowling Green Brandywine offers treatments based on a 12 steps philosophy as well as medication (when appropriate), counseling therapies, behavioral interventions, physical health promotion, social functioning promotion and recreational therapy.

Bowling Green Brandywine strives to provide cost effective clinical excellence, offered with compassion and respect.

A Full Continuum of Care

Bowling Green Brandywine offers clients a full continuum of addiction treatment. Care begins with a full assessment and intake evaluation and can then include services such as:

  • Medical detoxification
  • Residential treatment (28 days to 1 year, depending on need)
  • Intensive outpatient treatment
  • Outpatient counseling programs
  • Family services

Clients proceed through levels of care as they progress in the recovery process. Treatment durations are not fixed, but based on patient progress and readiness for less intensive care. Residential care can be as brief as 28 days, or as long as 6-12 months in duration.

Detox

Although many addicts dread the withdrawal period and delay treatment out of a fear of the pains of detox, doctors at Bowling Green Brandywine can make the detoxification process safe and comfortable, and specialize in opiate detoxification, using medications such as Suboxone or methadone when appropriate.

Clients receive a full and comprehensive physical and mental evaluation while in detox.

Expert detoxification treatment staff includes an addiction specialist physician, a psychiatrist, registered nurses and nursing assistants, doctor’s assistants and other peripheral staff.

Residential Care

A month or more of intensive practice in the skills and techniques of recovery offers a stable base for release back into the temptations of the community. Clients entering into residential treatment at Bowling Green Brandywine will engage in daily therapeutic activities, such as:

  • Daily 12 steps participation
  • Group counseling sessions
  • Individual therapy
  • Family therapy
  • Educational lectures and seminars
  • Medication management
  • Specialty groups
  • Relapse prevention therapy
  • Discharge planning

The duration of residential treatment can range from 28 days to 1 year, depending on client need and readiness for community release.

Partial Program

Clients graduating from a residential program are encouraged to remain in treatment through continuing participation with our step down outpatient program.

The partial program meets 5 days weekly, normally from 9am to 3 pm, and includes therapeutic programming similar in nature to that offered in the residential phase. Clients engaging in the partial program can work evenings while continuing in recovery and can practice skills of relapse avoidance while maintaining a close therapeutic relationship with the counselors at Bowling Green Brandywine.

Continuing participating in a step down program after the completion of a residential stay is associated with significantly lower rates of relapse.
