Medical Detoxification Services

New Life Lodge offers a full range of addiction services, including medical detoxification (On-site) to those that need to break free safely and humanely from a physical dependency prior to beginning a period of residential treatment.

The medical detoxification program at New Life is directed by a physician with assistance from nursing staff. The duration of a detox will vary based on need - patients graduate from detox once physical withdrawal symptoms cease and the director concludes that any risk period has passed.

Patients in detox will participate in initial group and individual therapies and educational seminars as they are able to – to get a head-start on the recovery program.

Medications are used as indicated to relieve withdrawal symptoms and to reduce the intensity of drug or alcohol cravings.

Residential Rehabilitation

Residential stays are a minimum of 28 days in duration but program completion is based on readiness and personal growth and it takes as long as it takes.

Recovery philosophies are based on the integration of a 12 steps philosophy with medical and psychological interventions that are proven to help. Each patient begins treatment with a comprehensive battery of assessments and evaluations, which provide treatment staff with the information they need to develop a tailored and individualized treatment care plan.

Therapeutic program elements can include:

  • Individual therapy
  • Gender specific group therapy
  • Educational seminars
  • Off site recreational activities
  • Community AA or NA meetings

Therapeutic program elements are delivered by licensed clinical professionals, including, nurses, doctors and certified addiction counselors.

Adolescent Residential Care

Teens from the ages of 13 to 17 will participate in a completely separate program of treatment. The adolescent treatment program is co-ed, although group and individual counseling are single gender, as are living quarters.

The New Life Academy

Many teens come into a period of residential treatment at New Life, far behind academically. Through participation in The New Life Academy, these teens can begin to catch up.

The New Life Academy follows the guidelines of the Tennessee Department of Education and provides each teen student with an individualized academic assessment that reveals deficiencies and strengths and a plan that roadmaps a way forward to academic achievement and excellence.

While in residence, students will work with individual tutors towards academic credit. Some students can complete a GED diploma while in residence.

The Family Program

New Life Lodge has worked with enough families over the last 20 years to know that addiction truly is "a family illness". We know that healthy and strong families make excellent partners to a recovery journey and so we strive to include whole families into a holistic approach to addiction recovery.

Family sessions are help twice a month, on alternating weekends, and the entire family is invited to the Burns TN location to participate in a weekend of:

  • Family counseling
  • Educational seminars
  • Group family therapy
  • Relapse prevention assistance workshops

Families play a role in the perpetuation of addiction and must learn healthy and prosocial ways to stop their enabling. With education and knowledge of the nature of addiction and relapse, family members can play a very supportive role in long term recovery.

Extended Care

Many graduates of our residential program choose to stay and benefit from a continuing participation in the extended care living program. This 1 to 3 month program helps those newly in recovery reintegrate back into the community and practice the skill of relapse avoidance and healthy decision making, while still providing a safe and sober living environment and positive pro social and supportive peer group for recovery.

Patients residing in extended care will typically continue with outpatient treatment, work or attend school during the day.

The Lodge

The Lodge serves as the heart of our treatment environment. Overlooking the lake, the lodge boasts high beamed ceilings and country beauty, as well as many comfortable seating areas that provide clients with serene and comfortable spaces for reflection and meditation.

Clients will sleep in very comfortable climate controlled cabins.
