Starlight Recovery Center
Starlight Recovery Center helps men, women and teens reclaim lives thwarted by addiction; it's what the doctors, nurses, therapists and other professionals at SRC have been doing with compassion and success for over 30 years. A full service chemical dependency treatment center for adult men and women, and teen boys.
Situated within 52 beautiful acres of Texas hill country, Starlight is a fully accredited and licensed provider of behavioral health care and is a member of the CRC health group, America's largest behavioral health organization. SRC is proud to offer those in need a full continuum of care, starting with medical detox (if needed) and including residential addiction treatment, full day treatment, outpatient treatment and continuing care.
The SRC Philosophy
SRC strives to offer effective and cost effective care for the primary disease of addiction. Addiction affects the mind, body and soul, and to be effective, treatment must be comprehensive and meet the needs of each person as a whole; treatment at SRC is individualized and focused on the needs of the mind, body and the spirit.
Family must play a role in the recovery process. Addiction affects everyone close to the addict, and so it makes sense for those affected by the decent into addiction to benefit from the healing of recovery. Through family therapy sessions that heal and workshops and seminars that unify, educate and empower the whole family, loved ones learn how they can help in the recovering process.
There is no cure for addiction, and left untreated, addiction can kill, but with treatment and support, graduates of SRC can and do live beautiful lives of abstinence during a lifelong remission from the disease.
Medical Detox
Clients requiring a medical detox can withdraw safely and in comfort on sight, under the 24 hour a day supervision and care of a team of nurses and doctors. Medication is prescribed as needed to reduce discomfort and ensure safety. Detox clients will participate in recovery therapies as soon as they are physically able and feel comfortable to do so.
Program Elements (Adult)
The adult residential program is open to men and women over the age of 18. The average length of stay during this primary treatment phase ranges from 30 to 35 days.
Some therapeutic program elements include:
- Individual and group counseling (at least one private therapy session per week and multiple weekly facilitated group therapy sessions)
- Family participation
- Educational seminars, with workshop topics relating to various aspects of chemical dependency (information and better understanding of the nature of the disease helps those in recovery stave off relapse over the long term).
- Life skills workshops – working towards a full understanding of your personal triggers to relapse, and developing ways to overcome the impulses we all feel. Other topics explored during frequent life skills workshops include family dynamics, self esteem, communication techniques, stress management, dealing with anxiety and others.
- Spirituality group sessions – helping those in recovery find more meaning and peace from life, through any personally meaningful definition of spirituality.
- 12 steps involvement and study – clients at Starlight will participate in frequent 12 steps meetings as well as study groups on the meaning and importance of the steps.
- Recreation time – daily sporting events, outings and other recreational activities provide a much needed break and bit of fun to people working very hard on recovery issues.
Residential Adolescent Program (Boys)
Starlight offers a 45 day residential program for boys from 13 to 17 years of age. Every teen admitted to the program works one on one with a primary care case manager over their course of stay, developing and modifying a treatment plan as necessary. Therapeutic components include individual, group, 12 steps and family therapy, similar in structure to the adult program, but offered in small groups and modified to meet the needs and interest of adolescent participants. Teens in the program have the opportunity to earn academic high school credits through private study and work with a tutor, several times per week.
The Family Program
A supportive and educated family can be a great asset to anyone early in recovery and so family members of all clients at SRC are invited to participate in a 3 day whole family recovery workshop.
Program elements of the family workshop include:
- Educational seminars
- Group therapy as a family
- Multi family process group therapy
- Whole family personal recovery planning
- Communication skills building workshops
It's an intense three days that benefits the family as a whole and every individual member of any family; and for the person starting a new life of recovery, family involvement and support can make all the difference in the world.
