Therapeutic Components of Treatment

Although with multiple locations and a number of diverse specialty groups White Deer Run can meet the needs of the many populations it serves, most treatment programs share some common base elements.

Common therapeutic elements include:

• 12 steps meetings  and 12 steps study
• Treatment provided by licensed and experienced clinical professionals
• Lengths of stay based on progress and need, rather than predetermined stay durations
• Psychological evaluations and testing, when needed
• Medical evaluations provided
• Both group and individual therapy sessions
• Family involvement in the therapeutic process, most commonly through at minimum a weekend family seminar

• Transportation for clients needing help getting to treatment

Treatment at White Deer Run begins with a comprehensive physical and mental evaluation, as well as a case history interview. From the information garnered at this initial stage, treatment professionals will work with you to develop a tailored and appropriate treatment plan, matched to your unique needs; and as treatment progresses and needs change, treatment plans will also change.

Adolescent Treatment

In addition to a comprehensive array of adult addiction treatment programs, White Deer Run can offer teen clients residential detox, residential addiction treatment programs and continuing teen specific outpatient treatment.

Residential addiction treatment and residential detox services are offered to teens from the ages of 12 to 17. White Deer Run will coordinate the delivery of services with other agencies, such as juvenile probation, children and youth, OVR and others. All residential teen treatment programs include an academic component, delivered by a trained and licensed educator.

In addition to conventional addiction treatment, specialty programs for adolescents with special needs include:

• A residential mental health program
• A residential secure sex offenders program (ages 12-20)

Adult Specialty Programs

White Deer Run operates residential and outpatient treatment centers in multiple locations across the state, in addition to our central 150 acre campus facility in Allentown. Our breadth of facilities and clinical staff allow us to run a number of specialty treatment programs, targeted at members of the community in need of unique care.

Some specialty programs offered include:

• African American Programs – addiction treatment for African Americans by African Americans that delves into cultural and racial issues that may contribute to continuing substance use and abuse.

• Relapse Prevention Groups – relapse prevention begins from early in the treatment process, with discharge planning an important component of any treatment experience.

• Methadone to Abstinence – a 5 to 14 day accelerated opiate detoxification using methadone, enabling clients to proceed quickly into an addiction treatment program free from opiate dependency.

• DUI Program – for those convicted of DUI/DWI, this therapeutic program of education and substance abuse treatment is designed to minimize the likelihood of future driving while intoxicated.

• Dual Diagnosis Residential Treatment – an integrated residential treatment program for people suffering a co occurring addiction and mental health disorder.

White Deer Run is licensed by the State of Pennsylvania to provide residential detox and inpatient addiction treatment, as well as multiple outpatient treatment programs. White Deer Run has also achieved JCAHO certification for its clinical excellence and consistent high standards of evidence based care.

Our facility is respected for its cost effective and compassionate delivery of behavioral health services and so most insurance companies will offer full or partial coverage for the costs of addiction treatment with us.
